What makes our model truly unique is its origin: it is not based on theory, but on real-life experience within the penitentiary system of Medellín. At Bellavista Prison, we established the first Nonviolent Center in Latin America—a space built on dialogue and mutual respect among different actors of the conflict.

Our Story: The story of Crime Does Not Pay International began within one of the most challenging environments—the Bellavista Prison in Medellín, Colombia, during a time marked by extreme violence and overcrowding. Amid this reality, a process of dialogue, reflection, and coexistence emerged, bringing together individuals from different groups involved in the conflict. Through mutual commitment and respect for life, this effort led to the creation of the first Nonviolent Center in Latin America. After this transformation, the experience evolved into a pedagogical model focused on crime prevention, education for peace, and leadership development. Since then, the program has impacted thousands of individuals, demonstrating that even in the most difficult circumstances, change is possible.
